Operations/Production

We are seeking a very special addition to our team in a fun and integral role we don’t quite have the right name for. Not quite a delivery driver, not quite a studio assistant. A little bit of both.

Our OA/PA position is an important cog in the Flora machine. Responsibilities include (but aren’t limited to)

  • Flower/plant deliveries

  • Subscription deliveries & scheduling

  • Communication with customers via our ORDERS email

  • Flower/plant pickups & greenhouse runs

  • Studio maintenance & organization

  • Processing flowers/flower bar maintenance

  • On-site event delivery, setup & assistance

  • On-site event breakdown & assistance

This position is part time (20-25 hrs/week) with a flexible schedule. This role typically calls for 3-4 days/week, but can fluctuate depending on events, holiday rushes and seasonal needs. This role will work closely with our studio manager and shop manager to execute daily tasks and special events. We schedule typically 2 weeks in advance, but can accommodate some short notice changes. OA/PA pay starts at $17/hr, with immediate opportunities on-site during our events which commensurate with experience. Regular reviews and check-ins are a part of the company ethos.

Please note this is not a floral design position nor a shopkeeper role.

Skills & Qualifications:

  • A good attitude

  • Ability to lift 50lbs safely and regularly

  • Good navigation skills

  • Punctuality

  • Appropriate phone and email etiquite

  • Curiosity, ability to learn on the fly, flexibility and adaptability

  • Creative, self-motivated, assertive and takes initiative, dependable, trustworthy and consistent

  • Experience with Square POS & Gmail Workspace (Gmail, Drive, Photos, etc) major plus

Requirements include:

  • Valid driver’s license and possession of your own vehicle (NO EXCEPTIONS, this is a role with a lot of driving)
    Mileage, gas and tolls reimbursed

  • Clean driving record

  • Smart phone or equivalent with access to email & apps (we use Square POS, access to this while on the road is important for delivery fulfillment)

  • Regular weekend availability

Shopkeeper

Flora Good Times is seeking a few hardworking, curious individuals to join our team and work at our wonderful little store in beautiful Beacon, NY. This position is part time (15-20 hrs/week) with a flexible schedule. This role typically calls for 2-3 days/week, but can fluctuate depending on holiday rushes and seasonal needs. We schedule typically 2 weeks in advance, but can accomodate some short notice changes. Associate pay starts at $14/hr during our preliminary training as you learn the ins and outs of the store. $15/hr is the standard rate once assosciate has hit necessary milestones. Regular reviews and check-ins are a part of the company ethos.

Our ideal candidates are interested & knowledgable about plants, have an artistic eye and are interested in supporting small businesses and communities like Beacon. Education is at the forefront of our brand, so kindness and communication are top priorities to make shoppers feel comfortable and confident in their plant purchases and in our expertise. A main focus of our store outside of plants and florals is our robust selection of independent brands. Being able to speak genuinely about the creative process that sets these special products apart from more inexpensive, mass produced options is a common talking point.

Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for sales and customer service in a specialty retail setting

  • Process transactions using Square Retail POS system and using company SKU system to guarantee accuracy of transactions and of plant advice being given.

  • Maintain product merchandising, replenish products, and keep the store looking clean and displays fresh

  • Maintain flower bar cleanliness through water changes, vase cleaning and general upkeep

  • Making hand-tied bouquets that align with the Flora aesthetic, brand and sizing models

  • Maintain a high level of product knowledge, familiarizing oneself with new plant specimens, new flower types as the seasons change, and new handmade makers

  • Assist with receiving inventory, processing and merchandising new products upon delivery

  • Assist with events, local deliveries, and errands as needed


Skills & Qualifications:

  • 1-2+ years of previous customer service experience a must. Bonus if that experience is in plant sales, floral shops or events

  • Curiosity, ability to learn on the fly, flexibility and adaptability

  • Excellent communication skills, positive attitude, friendly, upbeat, and helpful demeanor is a must

  • Experience with cash-handling and a POS is preferred

  • Creative, self-motivated, assertive and takes initiative, dependable, trustworthy and consistent

  • Weekend availability required

  • Must be able to perform all store opening and closing duties independently
